7th November 2008 – Jeff Beck ‘Performing This Week… Live At Ronnie Scott’s’

On 10 November 2008 Eagle Records are proud to release a sensational live album from Jeff Beck, “Performing This Week… Live At Ronnie Scott’s” [EAGCD396]. A new Jeff Beck release is always an event and these concerts in particular are eagerly awaited by his fans. This album release features live versions of classic tracks from across Jeff Beck’s stellar career including: “Beck’s Bolero”, “Led Boots”, “Scatterbrain”, “Where Were You”, “Angels (Footsteps)”, “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” and his now iconic version of “A Day In The Life”.

Jeff Beck is true rock legend, described by The Telegraph as "the first of the great guitar showmen". From his time with the Yardbirds in the sixties, through the Jeff Beck Group and throughout his solo career his unique guitar style and constant desire to explore new musical areas and sounds has won him the admiration of his peers and the adoration of legions of fans. In 2007 Jeff Beck performed a series of concerts at the renowned Ronnie Scott’s club in London. They became the must have ticket of the year with a packed audience every night of the famous and the fans. Jazzwise hailed, "an absolutely jaw-dropping display of the most exciting, imaginative and inspirational jazz-rock guitar witnessed in years." This CD features performances recorded across the different nights and presents the best version of each track. “Performing This Week… Live At Ronnie Scott’s” captures a stunning talent at his best, The Times review of the show lauded, "Perhaps the greatest living guitar virtuoso... Combining astonishing technique with a blissful nuance he exercised an almost supernatural control of his fretboard."

Tracklisting:
1) Beck’s Bolero, 2) Eternity’s Breath, 3) Stratus 4) Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers, 5) Behind The Veil, 6) You Never Know 7) Nadia, 8) Blast From The East, 9) Led Boots, 10) Angels (Footsteps) 11) Scatterbrain, 12) Goodbye Pork Pie Hat / Bush With The Blues 13) Space Boogie, 14) Big Block, 15) A Day In The Life, 16) Where Were You

London Lite raved about Beck’s ability to create "the kind of visceral, fluid music-making that other guitarists can only dream of”. With a stunning band complementing Jeff Beck perfectly [the full line up was Jeff Beck – guitar, Tal Wilkenfeld – bass, Vinnie Colaiuta – drums, Jason Rebello – keyboards] this is an essential purchase. The issue is available on news stands in the UK now.

The first song was an almost complete instrumental of "Surf’s Up," with some "Bygones" by Jeff Foskett. He then did a second song, "Surfin USA," with Foskett doing vocals. Both were superb." Click here to read the review in full. ‘Musicares: A Tribute To Brian Wilson’ was released by Eagle Vision Entertainment on 6th February 2007 and will be available in the UK on 26th February 2007.

George Martin comments that "people’s eyebrows were raised when I worked with Jeff Beck". Read the interview in full in the March 2007 issue of the magazine.

6th February 2007 – OFFICIAL BOOTLEG USA ‘O6 NOW AVAILABLE

The new Jeff Beck live CD "Official Bootleg USA ‘06" is now available exclusively from the Jeff Beck Official Store. Here’s the full story of how it came about:

In the spring of 2006, Jeff had committed to a performance for Fender’s 60th Anniversary and another big event that subsequently fell through. Having gathered the same core band as had played the previous summer in Japan – Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Pino Palladino (bass) and Jason Rebello (keyboards) – a few hastily put-together shows on the USA’s West Coast were added to make the journey worthwhile. The shows sold out almost instantly and generated rave reviews:

"one of those nights that even a veteran concertgoer brags about the next day" (Hollywood Reporter)

, "frequently spellbinding…eloquent and electrifying…an almost unqualified delight" (San Diego Union Tribune).

The daily reference tapes from those shows proved that this was indeed an amazing band and the soundboard mixes were felt to be good enough to be released as an official bootleg for sale at the shows on Jeff’s subsequent summer tour. They turned out to be so successful that a re-order was needed before they were even half-way through the tour. The few CDs that were left over from the tour were put in the store on jeffbeck.com and quickly snapped up by fans. Since then, word has got out, the interest in the CD has gone beyond all expectations and management have been bombarded by both musicians (well-known or otherwise!) and music fans desperate to get their hands on a copy. Due to this overwhelming demand, the CD has been re-issued and is now exclusively available from the online store on jeffbeck.com.

17th January 2007 - OFFICIAL BOOTLEG TO BE RE-ISSUED

The Jeff Beck "Official Bootleg USA '06" was originally produced to sell at Jeff's summer shows in America in 2006 as part of the tour merchandise. However the interest in the CD has gone beyond all expectations. We’d rather people had an original copy than were forced to buy a bootleg version or pay inflated prices on eBay. Therefore, due to the overwhelming demand and huge number of requests we’ve had from people trying to get their hands on a copy, we are going to get another batch of CDs manufactured which we hope to have available in the coming weeks. The CD will be exclusively available from the online store at:
Jeff Beck Official Store

17th January 2007 – CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE FEATURE

Paul Henderson of the UK’s Classic Rock magazine visited Jeff at home a few months back for a rare in-depth face to face interview. The results appear in a 5 page feature in the February 2007 issue, currently on news stands.

16th January 2007 – JEFF BECK: GIG OF THE YEAR

In a recent interview for Rhythm magazine, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith chooses Jeff’s show at the House of Blues in LA in April 2006 as his gig of the year - he says of the show: "I went with Taylor Hawkins and Glenn Hughes and it was just amazing. Vinnie (Colaiuta) was on drums and I have never seen him play like that before – I just couldn’t wait for the next song. They were so in the zone and the level of musicianship was unbelievable. Our jaws were on the floor…It was mind-blowing and I was very proud to be a musician that night".

3rd January 2007 – EXCLUSIVE BOOTLEG CD & NEW T-SHIRTS NOW AVAILABLE

As a result of popular demand, we have added the Jeff Beck ‘Official Bootleg USA ‘06’ CD from Jeff’s recent tour to the online store. This CD had only previously been available at Jeff’s shows, and is now available exclusively via the jeffbeck.com store. We’ve also added some limited edition t-shirts to the store, again from Jeff’s recent USA shows.

29th September 2006 – MORE ON THE JEFF BECK SHOWS

To keep you up to date with what the press have been saying about Jeff and his live shows this month:
“Beck brings equal command and total intensity to his stage performances, pulling off stunts you wouldn’t think he had a prayer of reproducing live.” LA Weekly

“His solos go from lithe and fluid one minute to staccato, machine-gun bursts the next. Fit and agile, the Jeff Beck of 2006 bears a striking resemblance to the one of 1971, but with even more tricks up his sleeve. Perhaps the finest moment of the night, however, was Beck's instrumental cover of the Beatles' A Day in the Life. The nuance and shading of his guitar lines were as expressive as any human voice. The best-value concert this year.” Rocky Mountain News

“It’s amazing to hear the range of sounds Beck creates. Starting with the show opener, the regal-sounding shout-out to Ravel, ‘Beck’s Bolero’, Beck worked the entire fretboard, even extending the flying fingers of his left hand above the pickups with absolute precision. For every pulsating ‘Big Block’ and ‘Scatterbrain’, there was a melodic ‘Cause We Ended As Lovers’ or stunningly beautiful ‘A Day In The Life’, his guitar singing out with a full range of emotions for the Beatles classic.” Chicago Sun Times

The shows so far have seen lots of fellow musicians in the audience, including Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, pictured here after the Atlantic City show.

     JP and Jeff Beck

The tour ends this weekend - hitting the House of Blues in Las Vegas tonight, Pala’s Starlight Theatre tomorrow (Saturday 30th) and the Ikeda Theater in Mesa on Sunday 1st October.

JEFF BECK IN THE USA – WHAT THE CRITICS SAID

Jeff’s 6 shows in West Coast USA last week were raved about by public and press alike – here’s some snippets of what was said:

Beck proffered melodies followed by amazingly dexterous solos for 90 minutes….Playing a single Fender guitar through four good-sized Marshall amps, he opened with a slide-driven rendition of ‘Beck’s Bolero’ that was a model of economy, a warm-up to the rapid-fire tunes like ‘Scatterbrain’ that would dazzle. (Variety)

He peppered his playing with tricks and tossed in some honest-to-guitar-god antics, apparently enjoying himself as much as the colorful crowd enjoyed him. … Beck sauntered onstage, powdered up his hands and went straight to work. Using his 1968 classic ‘Beck’s Bolero’ as a warmup, he pinballed across his 40-year career, visiting every square inch of the guitar, mercilessly deploying the whammy bar and occasionally throwing both fists in the air as he let a note hang. Before long, heads were shaking throughout the hall – either moving in time to the music or simply wordlessly saying ‘wow’. Probably both. …. After four decades, Beck still has the ability to thrill. While unfailing technique is second nature to him, it was a pleasure to see Beck give just a bit extra on the showmanship side. The result was one of those nights that even a veteran concertgoer brags about the next day. And the next. (Hollywood Reporter)

Jeff Beck has an orchestra in his fingertips, as he demonstrated throughout his frequently spellbinding concert Thursday night at 4th & B. Like few others, this legendary English virtuoso achieves exceptional depth and dimension in his playing. Eloquent and electrifying, he makes his guitar sigh, moan, laugh, soar, dive, ring, squeal, shimmy and shake, but always in service of the song at hand. Beck is also that rare performer who can play with intensity and taste at the same time. This made his 91-minute set here an almost unqualified delight. (San Diego Union Tribune)
